Global Economy Mandates New Name for Airport Authority
Change to 'Reno-Tahoe' Will Help Brand the Airport Worldwide
Press Release

Reno, NV - A world class airport deserves a world renowned name and that's
why the Airport Authority of Washoe County will be renamed Reno-Tahoe
Airport Authority effective July 1.

Gov. Kenny Guinn signed legislation June 21 officially changing the name of
the organization that operates Reno-Tahoe International Airport and Reno
Stead Airport. In reality, the name change has been evolving over the past
few years as Reno-Tahoe International Airport has grown in scope, service
and reputation.

Today's Reno-Tahoe International serves 5.1 million passengers per year and
offers 11,000 airline departure seats per day. It is also important to
recognize that Reno-Tahoe International Airport is not supported by local
tax dollars, yet it generates $3.25 billion per year for the local economy.

The importance of international name recognition is emphasized by the change
in airport passengers. According to a recent customer survey, 47 percent of
Reno-Tahoe International Airport's customers are traveling for business.
Last year, 150,000 of the airport's passengers were international travelers
and they make up the fastest growing segment of customers, Krys Bart,
Executive Director of the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority, said.

"The airport's advertising slogan, Anytime, Anyplace, Anywhere, is more than
just a promotion," Bart said. "It is a true statement that describes the
global reach of today's Reno-Tahoe International. As a result of service to
major hub airports like Atlanta, Chicago and Dallas, customers can truly fly
anytime, anyplace, anywhere in one stop from Reno."

The global nature of today's airport requires a world renowned name. While
the old Airport Authority of Washoe County name is recognizable in Nevada,
it is not well known in today's global marketplace. While we are proud to
call Washoe County home, Reno-Tahoe is a name that resonates from Reno to
Beijing and beyond.
