Pittsburgh airport to lay out long-term development plan
The Beaver County (PA) Times

Pittsburgh International Airport officials want to be ready ... just in
case.

If a developer would want to move into space near the cargo area, off
Business Route 60 and International Drive in Moon Township, airport
officials want to be prepared.

So long-term planning for the northern area of airport property will be
discussed from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 17 at a master planning meeting at the
Holiday Inn on University Boulevard in Moon. Although the plans might never
come to fruition, they will lay out where the airport would like to add ramp
space, hangars and expand cargo facilities, should there be a reason to do
so, said JoAnn Jenny, airport spokeswoman.

Even though there are no takers at the moment, she said the airport is going
ahead with the plans because of the lengthy approval process involving the
Federal Aviation Administration. "You stand to lose someone when you have to
wait around for government clearance," she said.

But this way, if a developer shows an interest in the air, Jenny said,
"we're ready to go."
