KUWAIT AIRPORT TARGETS 15 MILLION PASSENGERS BY 2008

According to Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper (December 22, 2004), Sheikh Ahmad
Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Minister of Communications and Minister of
Planning and Minister of State for Administrative Developments affairs,
announced that Kuwait has no intention to construct a new airport in the
country. Yet, Kuwait will soon publicize a tender for the private sector to
build a new terminal at Kuwait International Airport based on the B.O.T. The
minister added that Kuwait is planning to increase the capacity of its
international airport from current 5.5 million passengers to 15.5 million
passengers by 2008/9, an increase of 10 million passengers.
