Omaha, Neb., airport budget goes up
The Omaha (NE) World-Herald
The Omaha Airport Authority passed a 2005 budget Tuesday that sets spending
at $19.8 million for operations and debt reduction, an increase of 2 percent
from expected spending this year.
Revenue next year is projected to reach nearly $30.3 million, an increase of
3.9 percent more than expected revenue this year of $29.1 million.
The authority, which operates Eppley Airfield and the Millard Airport, is
not funded by taxes. It operates on fees charged airlines and others who
operate at and use the airports.
Landing fees and terminal rental rates will increase next year. The landing
fee rate will be $1.781 for each 1,000 pounds of aircraft weight, compared
with $1.722 the past two years. Rental rates for finished space in the
terminal will rise to $60.31 per square foot per year from $56.37 in 2004.
The budget calls for nearly $6.1 million in capital expenditures next year.
The authority will complete work on extending an existing runway, which has
been partly funded by federal grants.
Other projects include replacing a jet bridge and making cosmetic
improvements to the terminal building.
In other business, the board approved a $176,195 bid for security
improvements to the authority's administrative offices.
