Man charged with trying to get a box cutter on plane
The Associated Press
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A Mexican national has been charged with trying to
smuggle a box cutter onto an airplane at Salt Lake City International
Airport.
Juan Carlos Justo-Martinez also allegedly produced false identification when
he was arrested Friday.
Justo - who also goes by the name Abel Galindo-Garcia - faces up to 10 years
in federal prison on each count. His initial appearance is scheduled for
Tuesday.
The FBI says a screener found the box cutter tucked against the metal frame
inside a speaker among his belongings. Justo allegedly admitted he wrapped
his electronics in plastic in the airport parking lot, but he was in a rush
to catch his flight to Mexico.
He also admitted he entered the United States illegally, and purchased the
false alien registration and Social Security cards at a Hispanic market,
officials said.
