THIRD SHEREMETYEVO TERMINAL TO BE BUILT IN 2007 - MINISTER
Russia - Interfax News Agency
MOSCOW. (Interfax) - A third terminal at Moscow's Sheremetyevo International
Airport will be built in 2007, Russian Transport Minister Igor Letvin told a
press conference at the Interfax head office. Letvin said Aeroflot, the
Russian flag carrier, and OAO Sheremetyevo, the company that operates the
airport, would build the terminal. However Letvin said he thought the
airport operator should own the controlling interest in the facility. "I did
not insist on that at yesterday's board meeting because otherwise we would
not get started and build the terminal," he said. Letvin said a consortium
of major banks might partner the two companies in the project. "Only major
banks could raise the $430 million needed to build the new terminal. The
airport itself won't.
