Oakland Airport Parking Fees Likely To Increase

OAKLAND, Calif. -- The cost to park at Oakland International Airport could
soon go up.
Port commissioners say they have to raise fees to help pay for an initiative
voters approved last month.
Measure Y will raise nearly $20 million for new police officers and violence
prevention programs.
Commissioners say a $1-per-hour fee increase will make up the difference.
The new fees could take effect as early as February.
The port commission will hold a hearing on the matter Tuesday.
