Catalan government seeks changes in airport management model
(El Gobierno catalan pide cambios en el modelo de gestion)
Spain - Expansion

In Spain, the minister of public works and territory policy in the Catalan
regional government, Joaquim Nadal, has called for changes to the management
model applied to airports. Earlier, the Catalan government had called on the
central government to improve the management of Barcelona's El Prat airport.

Mr Nadal's comments came after the chaos earlier this month at the airport,
when a technical fault left the airport's control tower without
communications. This, in turn, led to a major reduction in the airport's
operating capacity to as little as 30 per cent for two hours. Aena, the
Spanish airports and air traffic authority, yesterday ordered an urgent
inspection of electricity installations at Spain's largest airports.
