New Airport Terminal To Be Delayed By 6 Mos
Japan - Nihon Keizai Shimbun
BANGKOK -- Italian-Thai Development PCL, the developer of the new Bangkok
international airport, won't be able to complete the construction of the
main passenger terminal and aircraft docking areas on time due to problems
with other contractors, The Nation reports.
The completion date will be delayed by about six months to April 2006, from
the original date of Sept. 28, the paper says.
"The problems Italian-Thai Development has are with the contractors within
its consortium, which is the ITO Joint Venture," said an official with New
Bangkok International Airport Co., according to the report.
ITO Joint Venture comprises Italian-Thai Development, together with Japanese
partners Takenaka Corp. and Obayashi Corp..
Overall, the construction of the new airport is 76.23% complete. The
passenger terminal is 79.47% complete and the aircraft docking areas 68.78%
complete.
