US travel magazine rates retail at Auck Airport
Press Release
US travel magazine rates retail at Auckland International Airport
Global Traveler Magazine has placed Auckland International Airport as one of
the top ten airport shopping destinations in the world.
Airport retail has grown to become its own unique industry, says Nick
Forbes, general manager - retail at Auckland Airport.
"Auckland Airport's retail portfolio certainly stacks up well, especially
compared with other larger international airports and we are delighted to
have featured in the top 10."
Auckland Airport has over 70 stores in the international terminal with
specialty stores like Traveller's Oasis Day Spa, Elle Macpherson Intimates
and Kiwi Discovery - who won the 'retail hospitality' category at the 2004
New Zealand Tourism Awards.
The article, which featured in the November 2004 issue of the USA-based
global travel magazine, details the growing professionalism of airport
retail in terms of design, selection and convenience. It says that most
airports throughout the world are becoming excellent shopping destinations
in their own right.
Other airports to feature in the top ten shopping destinations were
Amsterdam, Dubai, Sydney, Singapore, Hong Kong, Helsinki-Yantaa Airport,
Zurich, London and San Francisco.
