Italian airport suspends two for failing to spot pistol

MILAN, Italy - Linate airport suspended two guards Friday after a passenger
passed through security checks while carrying a pistol in his backpack.
News reports said the unidentified passenger reported the pistol to the
captain of his Air Lingus flight to Dublin as soon as he boarded the plane
Thursday, saying he had forgotten he was carrying it.
Linate issued a statement saying the security guard at the X-ray machine and
his supervisor were suspended.
