Ex-Serbian minister arrested for embezzling money for airport reconstruction
Serbia - Radio B92, Belgrade

[Announcer] The [Interior Ministry] department for fighting organized crime
has detained 12 persons, among whom is former telecommunications minister
Marija Raseta Vukosavljevic. A statement issued by the Serbian MUP [Interior
Ministry] also said that these persons, suspected of having abused their
position, were brought before an investigative judge of the Belgrade
District Court.

The MUP stated that these persons had caused the airport losses worth the
already-established amount of 220m dinars [around 3m euros] in the period
between March 2003 and April 2004, on the occasion of reconstruction of the
VIP lounge and planning of terminal 2 of Belgrade airport.

Besides Marija Raseta Vukosavljevic, former Belgrade airport director
general Branislav Vitasovic, Eurosalon company owner and director Branislav
Stojakovic, as well as Kolubara Invest Gradnja director Dejan Misovic, are
also on the list of those detained.

The whole action was set in motion by the current airport leadership, which
Belgrade airport director general Nebojsa Nedeljkovic has also confirmed.

[Nedeljkovic] When I assumed my post in May this year, I realized, when
going through the books, i.e. documents about the ongoing investments, that
the investments into the VIP lounge are too big. I launched an internal
investigation and then sent the findings to the MUP department for fighting
organized crime.

[Announcer] Although certain media have reported that former [national
carrier] JAT director general Predrag Vujovic is also among the detainees,
he has denied having been asked for questioning. Vujovic also denied he had
anything to do with the reconstruction, because that is not under the
jurisdiction of the JAT director.
