Louisville airport makes play for more customers
WHAS-TV Ch 11 (ABC), Louisville (KY)

You're about to hear and see a lot more about Louisville international
airport -- even if you're in Lexington, Evansville or Cincinnati.

Louisville International Airport's new look is almost complete, and in the
trendy new travelers club called Altitude, Kendall Sierakowski is hearing
lots of good feedback.

"A lot of the people that come through the airport, they talk about the fact
that the airport needed it, but they also talk about how they don't get the
amenities at other airports that they get here," he says.

And the Airport Authority isn't keeping the $41 million in renovations here
secret. A series of radio spots are running not only in Louisville, but also
in Lexington, Evansville and Cincinnati, too.

"In order for our airport to grow, we need to spread the word throughout the
entire region," says Bill Rawlings, director of airport marketing.

The half million-dollar ad campaign also includes billboards, and it's the
largest promoting Louisville International Airport has done outside the area
in years.

"The traveling public is so cost conscious today that they will look at all
the airfares available, and this airport does have the lowest airfares in
the region" Rawlings says.

The renovations should be completed sometime early next year, and if you're
traveling this holiday season, there's more good news. The additions include
a new lane at the security checkpoint, which will hopefully mean shorter
lines.
