Airport Security and Religion
WXXA-TV Ch 23 (FOX), Albany (NY)

Albany International Airport hasn't been cited for any incidents of racial
profiling or insensitivity toward Muslims. And officials at the airport want
to keep it that way.

Local members of the Muslim community approached airport officials a month
ago about the possibility of sensitivity training for their workers about
the Muslim culture. The airport has agreed saying this is just another part
of an ongoing, proactive effort in this area.

Two years ago, they built private screening rooms at the security gates for
those who needed to remove their turbans. The rooms can also be used for
Muslims who, because of beliefs of modesty, would feel uncomfortable
unclothing in front of other passengers.

An airport official says the training isn't expected to start for at least
two weeks.
