Security breach closes Halifax airport
Canada.com

HALIFAX -- Police will not charge a man who caused an evacuation at the
Halifax airport.

About 900 people were cleared from the departures area around eight this
morning Atlantic time.

RCMP Constable Joe Taplin says a man passed through security, but left
before officers could fully check his laptop.

The man's computer had been scanned and deemed suspicious.

Taplin says the man had gathered his things, including the computer, and
left security without knowing he'd caused a breach.

The man was located using surveillance tapes and sniffer dogs.

Taplin says the individual has fully co-operated with police.

As many as 16 flights were delayed and three cancelled due to the
evacuation.

Less than a month ago, a similar evacuation occurred at the airport when a
man carrying a bag passed through security without being checked, but was
never seen again.
