Hays airport evacuated in bomb scare
The Associated Press

HAYS, Kan. - The municipal airport here was evacuated early Monday after a
bag initially tested positive for explosives.

Security officials moved the bag to an open field, but further testing
showed it contained some sort of electronic device, not explosives, police
said. A search determined the bag contained a radio scanner.

No passengers missed flights as a result of the scare, police said.

"This was a false alarm, but an excellent opportunity to test our response
procedures," Assistant Chief of Police Philip Hartsfield said in a news
release.
