ACI-NA 13th Annual Conference & Exhibition WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)
-- Airports Council International - North America (ACI-NA) today
announced the winners of its 2004 Excellence in Marketing and
Communications Contest. San Diego County Regional Airport Authority
received the Peggy G. Hereford Overall Award for Excellence, widely
recognized throughout the airport industry as the highest honor an
airport can earn in the marketing and communications field. The official
presentation to San Diego will be held Wednesday, Sept. 22, during the
Chairman's Honor Luncheon at the ACI-NA 13th Annual Conference &
Exhibition in Houston.
The Hereford award recognizes creativity in illustrating the airport's
message, effectiveness in connecting with audiences, and the overall
scope of the airport's effort in marketing and public relations. The
award's goal is to spotlight the commitment and dedication of the
winning airport's accomplishments in marketing and communications.
"From large scale to low budget, the San Diego County Regional Airport
Authority's marketing and communications programs were consistently
impressive and effective," said Juliet Wright, ACI-NA's senior director
of public affairs. "Focusing on their role in planning for the San Diego
region's future, demonstrated through their 75th anniversary
celebrations, the authority's programs stayed true to their theme and
reflected the heart of their brand and service to the customer and
region," she added.
In addition to winning the Hereford Award, San Diego County Regional
Airport Authority took first place in four categories: Aviation
Education and Tour Programs, Media Guides, Press Kits, and Public
Relations Campaigns. The airport received three second place awards
representing excellence in Video and Film Productions, Creative
Innovations-Technology, and Corporate Branding Campaigns. San Diego also
received a third place award for black and white Print Advertising and
an Honorable Mention in Special Events.
San Diego County Regional Airport Authority was one of 54 airports and
airport authorities that submitted entries in the contest, which
encompasses categories that recognize work in marketing and public
relations and provides airports the opportunity to be honored for the
quality of their work. Award categories cover a wide range of media
including brochures, advertising, marketing and public relations
campaigns, newsletters, special events, video and film productions, and
websites.
"The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority is very pleased to be
recognized by our industry peers with the highest honor an airport can
earn in the marketing and communications field," said Thella F. Bowens,
President/CEO. "We're especially pleased to have earned this award in
our very first year as an independent agency. This prestigious award is
a testament to the world-class performance achieved by employees
throughout our organization, and it reflects the Airport Authority's
commitment to openly communicate with the public we serve."
El Paso received a Judges' Award for showing passion, thoughtfulness and
energy in demonstrating the quality of work performed at their airport.
Contest judges applauded the airport's energies, commitment and pride in
their effective promotional work.
