Security breach at airport
Knife scare causes delays at Palm Beach International
The South Florida Sun-Sentinel
A concourse at Palm Beach International Airport was evacuated Friday
afternoon after security guards realized that something that looked like
a knife had slipped through a checkpoint.
Several hundred passengers had to leave Concourse B about 11:35 a.m. so
it could be searched and swept, said a spokeswoman for the federal
Transportation Security Administration.
They were all rescreened by 1:04 p.m., but security officials couldn't
find the knife or a second "opaque object" that accompanied it.
A screener saw the knife on an X-ray screen but failed to detain the bag
to be searched before someone walked off with it.
The security breach happened during a shift change.
Five flights were delayed close to 30 minutes.
