New Carrasco airport terminal ready in 2008
BNamericas.com
The new terminal for Uruguayan capital Montevideo's Carrasco
international airport will be ready in 2008, a year ahead of the
original schedule, El Pais reported.
The news followed the presentation this week of the terminal's design by
local architect Rafael Vinoly and his team to President Jorge Batlle.
The US$30mn terminal is part of the concession contract of the Cerealsur
consortium that took over the airport's operations in November after
securing a 30-year concession in August, when it presented a US$34mn
offer for shares in concessionaire Puertas del Sur.
The contract also entails expanding the 2.68km runway by 150m at each
end that will cost some US$20mn and a new cargo terminal.
Argentine airport concessionaire Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 (AA2000),
Italian airport operator Societa Esercizi Aeroportuali (SEA) and US
investors make up Cerealsur.
