Hidalgo asks IDB to support airport effort
BNamericas.com
Hidalgo state governor Manuel Nunez in central Mexico has asked the
Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) to help support the analysis and
eventual construction of a state cargo airport, IDB spokesperson Peter
Bate told BNamericas.
Mexico's finance ministry (SHCP) would first have to clear the way for
IDB support, Bate added, correcting a local press report that said the
IDB had agreed to support Hidalgo's project.
Meanwhile, the local government is buying land for the project, which
would be built along the Pachuca-Tizayuca corridor, according to local
press reports. State officials have not responded to requests for
comment on the project.
The initiative falls under plans to build up airport infrastructure in
central Mexico, considering the government scrapped plans to build a new
Mexico City airport in nearby Mexico state (Edomex) two years ago.
