West, Central African airport managers meet in Benin
Panafrican News Agency
Cotonou, Benin (PANA) - Airport managers from West and Central Africa
Friday convened their eighth meeting of the regions, focusing on ways to
meet users' demands and improve financial profitability.
The meeting comes six months after the UTA plane crash in host city
Cotonou that left 140 dead, and a few days after another air crash in
Gabon that claimed 19 lives.
Organisers said other issues on the agenda were airport safety and
security, quality of service, costs control and aviation risks.
The three-day forum will also serve to forge a more effective synergy
among airports in the regions and integrate safety and security into
their development plans.
Africa accounts for a meagre two percent of the global air traffic, but
8.7 percent of the world's air accidents occur on the continent.
