Garrett urged to oppose Southern Highlands airport plan
The Australian Broadcasting Corporation

The Greens' Member for Cunningham, Michael Organ, says he hopes the ALP's
new recruit, Peter Garrett, will campaign against moves to establish a
second Sydney airport in the NSW Southern Highlands.

The former Midnight Oil singer and prominent environmentalist plans to
continue living in the Southern Highlands until after the next federal
election, despite running for a Sydney seat.

Mr Organ says he hopes Mr Garrett will stand alongside other federal
politicians such as Joanna Gash and Alby Schultz and rally against Labor's
airport plans.

"Well, I would hope that he would be supporting his local community and
calling for the Australian Labor Party's policy to build a second airport in
the Wilton-Southern Highlands corridor to be totally rejected," he said.
