Qantas withdraws terminal sale
The Australian Associated Press

QANTAS Airways Ltd has withdrawn its Sydney domestic terminal from sale,
a spokesman said today.

"Yes this is true," head of corporate communications Michael Sharp said.

"I can certainly confirm that we've withdrawn the airports from sale."

Mr Sharp said the decision to cancel the sale, which had been expected
to fetch about $500 million, did not affect the airline's plans to
upgrade its fleet.

Nor did it increase the chances the airline would seek other ways to
raise capital, such as issuing more shares.

"It's unrelated," he said.

The decision had been made in recent weeks.

Sydney Airport Corporation Ltd had previously expressed interest in
acquiring the asset and was considered the most likely buyer, but
declined to comment today.

Qantas shares fell two cents to $3.42 by 11.07 (AEST).

Macquarie Airports, which has a 53 per cent stake in the consortium that
owns Sydney Airport, dropped one cent to $2.04.
