World Leading Design Firm, Baltimore-Based RTKL, Named Architect of Record
for Retail Development at BWI Airport
Press Release

BALTIMORE--(BUSINESS WIRE) -- The new retail development getting under way
at Baltimore/Washington International Airport now has two world-leading
companies behind it. Airport retail developer BAA Maryland, Inc. announced
today that Baltimore-based RTKL has joined the project as architect of
record.

As lead architect, RTKL will develop design specifications for 140,000
square feet of new and redeveloped retail concession space, including six
new food courts. Together with BAA Maryland, the project team will establish
guidelines that complement the individual brands, while introducing color,
vibrancy and creativity into the overall terminal design. The scheme will
form the basis for individual operators to build and design their new
stores.

"We couldn't have found a better design partner for this world-class
development than RTKL," says James Gascoine, development director for BAA
Maryland, Inc. "Their depth of expertise combined with our knowledge and
experience as airport retail developers provide a formidable partnership for
the new retail program at BWI."

A leader in retail and transportation design, RTKL brings considerable
experience to the project at BWI Airport. The company will draw upon its
global resources to provide one of the most comprehensive sets of
architectural, planning and creative services available in the marketplace
today. Since its start in 1946 as a two-person office in Annapolis, RTKL's
design signature can be seen in retail and transportation projects
worldwide. Its award-winning portfolio ranges from Arundel Mills in Hanover
to Spain's Salamanca Rail Station, an urban railway station infused with
restaurants, shopping and entertainment.

Over the course of the next two years, BAA's new retail program will be
implemented throughout the airport, from the development and refurbishment
of the existing terminal to the completion of Southwest Airline's new A/B
concourse. The BAA Maryland team is responsible for the subleasing, design,
construction, tenant coordination, management and financing of the project.
The company is well known for its award-winning airport retail programs
worldwide including London Heathrow Airport and the AIRMALL(r) at Pittsburgh
International Airport.
