Woman charged for bringing gun to airport in laptop case
The Associated Press

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - A woman faces federal charges after screeners at
Gerald Ford International Airport say they found a loaded .357 handgun
in the pouch of her laptop computer case Tuesday.

The woman was preparing to board a Northwest Airlines flight about 7
a.m. when the screeners found the gun, said Transportation Security
Administration spokesman Mike Moll.

Moll said investigators do not believe the woman intended to bring the
weapon on the flight.

The U.S. Attorney's office in Grand Rapids charged the woman with trying
to board a plane with a gun and with violating airport security rules.
She faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted as
charged.

The woman, who lives in Kent County's Byron Township, remains free, and
no arraignment has yet been scheduled.
