Snag on A380 Deliveries
By JOE SHARKEY
The New York (NY) Times

Virgin Atlantic, which had been one of the initial customers for the
Airbus super-jumbo A380 jet in 2006, put off deliveries for more than a
year of the six planes it had ordered. Airbus has said it has more than
125 orders for the A380. Virgin, a unit of the Virgin Group said it
delayed deliveries because not enough world airports - including Los
Angeles International - had begun making renovations necessary to
accommodate the huge double-deck plane, which will carry from 550 to
more than 850 passengers, depending on how it is configured. Los Angeles
is considered a vital link because the A380 will be used on many
trans-Pacific flights.
