Airport authority ramps up rent campaign
Canada - The Ottawa Business Journal

The Ottawa International Airport Authority is ramping up its demands for a
break on the millions of dollars it pays the federal government each year in
rent.

The feds collected $11.3 million from the airport last year, but airport
officials say Ottawa is paying many times more than comparable airports
across Canada. Edmonton, which handles roughly the same number of
passengers, paid just $3 million in rent last year.

Airport CEO Paul Benoit says he's getting tired of the government's
explanation that it's studying the problem. The review has been underway for
two years.

Incoming airport chairman Jim Durrell is equally upset. The former mayor
says there's "great inequity" in the current charges.

The airport authority holds its annual general meeting this afternoon.
