"Note to List"

Dear List,

Someone apparently just sent a post to the list with a subject line of
'RE: CAA: Airport News, Document'. This did not come from me. Forging
an email is called 'spoofing' and it really isn't very hard to do.
Spoofing an email with a possibly hostile attachment is a growing
phenomenon on the internet. Lists are an especially sought after target.
The idea is for a hacker to send a post to a list, masquerading as a
legitimate poster in the belief that people will open that attachment
without question. My Norton Anti-virus didn't trigger when that post
arrived and Outlook wouldn't let me open it (I wouldn't have tried to
anyway) so I believe it's benign, maybe just some fourteen year-old
hacker testing.

Please delete the post and we'll add this file type to the list of those
that the CAA list serve won't forward to subscribers.

BTW, please use anti-virus software on your computer and keep it updated
with the latest virus signatures. It's a jungle out there :^)

Warm regards,

Steve
