Airport chief quiet on security scare
The Australian Broadcasting Company

Sydney Airport Corporation chief Max Moore-Wilton has declined to comment on
a report that a passenger managed to board a plane despite possible traces
of explosive being found in his hand luggage.

A Corporation spokesman has confirmed an incident occurred at the airport on
December 18 last year but refused to give further details.

He said Mr Moore-Wilton would not comment on specific incidents.

An article in the Melbourne Herald-Sun has reported the incident is among
several in which Australian Protective Services officers, who are
responsible for airport security, have been obstructed in their work.

It is alleged APS officers had wanted to evacuate the international
departures area after finding the abandoned bag there, but were refused by
management.

Later tests on the bag to confirm the presence of explosives proved
negative.
