AirTran doubles up on BWI-Dallas service
Washington Business Journal, DC
Discount carrier AirTran continues to beef up its
Washington-area presence, this time adding a second
daily flight from Baltimore-Washington International
Airport to Dallas-Ft. Worth.
AirTran started BWI to Dallas service in November, and
says it is adding the second daily flight in response
to demand.
The Orlando-based carrier began service at Reagan
National Airport in October. It currently offers
service from National to Atlanta, Fort Lauderdale and
Ft. Myers, and has requested Department of
Transportation approval to increase its National to
Atlanta service from three daily flights to five.
AirTran's other recent additions at BWI include
service to Boston and Dayton, Ohio.
Discount carriers, including AirTran and rivals Jet
Blue and Southwest, have been expanding
Washington-area service, focusing on both the
traditional leisure travel segment and increasingly
attracting cost-conscious business travelers.
