D.C. Metro Airport Authority Interested in Adding BWI
The Associated Press

Washington (AP) - The agency that oversees day-to-day operations at
Dulles and Reagan National Airport (website - news) s is interested in
doing the same at Baltimore-Washington International Airport.

State Transportation Secretary Robert Flanagan says board members with
the Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority have pitched the idea to
state officials in a letter and a meeting.

BWI (website - news) is currently managed by the Maryland Aviation
Administration - a division of the transportation department.

Anne Arundel County state Senator James DeGrange says independent
oversight of BWI is worth studying, but he says BWI shouldn't be
controlled by the same agency that controls Dulles and Reagan National.

And Flanagan says authority members haven't made a case that
transferring the airport is in the state's best interest.
