ZURICH, March 3 (Reuters) - Airport operator Unique
(Flughafen Zurich AG) <UZAN.S> said on Wednesday it
was in the final stages of taking on a 20-year
management contract to run the international
Venezuelan airport of Isla de Margarita.

The takeover, together with Chilean partner Gestion E
Ingenieria IDC SA (IDC), is expected to take place at
the end of 2004 following the completion of the due
diligence process.

With 1.026 million passengers and 42,700 aircraft
movements in 2003, the Caribbean airport, a duty free
area, is the second-largest in Venezuela. A new
carrier named Conviasa is to use the airport as its
home base and hub.

Shares in Unique were up one percent at 92.95 Swiss
francs at 1450 GMT in a weaker market ahead of 2003
results due on Thursday. Analysts foresee earnings
before interest and tax (EBIT) of around 52 million
francs on revenue of 557 million.

The operator had EBIT of 69 million francs on revenue
of 528 million in 2002.

About 17 million passengers used Zurich airport in
2003, down more than five percent on 2002.
