First Direct China-DFW Flight to Arrive Friday
Associated Press

FORT WORTH, Texas - The first direct flight from China
to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport will arrive
Friday, according to airport officials.

China Cargo Airlines will begin operating freight
flights three times a week between DFW and Shanghai
this month, DFW officials said Tuesday.

The first flight is due to arrive at 12:30 a.m.
Friday. DFW officials spent more than two years
working to snare China Cargo flights. Airport and
China Cargo officials plan to mark the event with an
event Thursday night.

Asian cargo accounts for almost 19 percent of DFW's
total cargo and is growing, airport officials said.
China Cargo's entry to the U.S. market will give DFW
more than 25 cargo flights per week into Asia on five
different carriers.

China Cargo is owned by China Eastern Airlines Corp.,
which also operates about 70 passenger jets. Taiwan's
China Airlines is trying to buy a 25 percent stake in
the cargo airline.
