AviaEd to Conduct Required Security Courses

PHOENIX – Tuesday, February 17, 2004 – Discuss
situations with your security peers at other airports
and complete a TSA requirement at one of three
training programs planned. Participants are saying
the course is a . . . “Good mix of lecture, student
feedback, and breakout groups”.
Although airport security coordinators were required
to complete the training prior to July 2003, several
airports are only now able to release employees to
attend or have decided to train additional staff
members in the regulatory requirements.
Course dates for 2004 are February 27, 2004 in Mesa,
AZ at Williams Gateway Airport ERAU Campus, March 23
in Baltimore/Washington area at the Tipton Airport in
Fort Meade, MD, and April 27 in California at the
Sacramento International Airport.
The daylong ASC Course completes the TSA requirement
as stated in airport security programs and discusses
the following topics:
History of Aviation and Transportation Security Act
TSA Role in Regulating Aviation Security
Coordination and communication with TSA
Dissemination of threat information and related
intelligence
49CFR 1542 - Airports
49CFR 1544, 1546, & 1548
Airport Security Program
Function of the ASC
Law enforcement responsibilities and incident
management
AviaEd has conducted numerous security-training events
and certified over 400 airport security coordinators
and alternates throughout the nation. Certificates
are issued at the completion of the program to
