Airport Working To Attract "Airline Z"
WTVO, IL

The Rockford airport has launched a new campaign to
attract another airline. It's called Operation
"Gathering Strength," but instead of money, the
airport wants information.

All the airport wants you to do is to fill out a
survey. The questions ask businesses and residents
about their travel habits.

Airport officials believe if enough people take part,
it will convince an unnamed airline to fly into
Rockford.

And any local leaders believe the Rockford Airport
will play a big role in the area's economic future.

The city is considering a plan to turn the airport and
its surrounding land into a tax incremental financing
district. TIF districts allow property tax dollars to
be reinvested into the area. The goal is to attract
new business.
