Belfast City Airport Gets New Chief
Belfast Telegraph, UK
10 February 2004
A NEW chief executive has been appointed at Belfast
City Airport following the departure after six years
of boss John Doran.
He is Brian Ambrose, who has been operations director
at City Airport since 1997.
A spokesman for City Airport, which was bought last
April by Spanish company Ferrovial in a £35m deal,
confirmed that Mr Doran had vacated his post at the
end of January.
He said: "Mr Doran is now completing several special
projects for Ferrovial and has worked out a timescale
with the company for his departure. It is all entirely
amicable."
Mr Doran, who was formerly director of human resources
at Shorts, was appointed as airport director in 1997
and oversaw the development of the new £21m terminal
at City Airport which opened in June 2001.
Passenger numbers at Belfast City soared to a new
record of 1.95 million last year, representing a year
on year increase of 6.5%.
