D/FW Airport Posts 18% Rise in Holiday Travel
Dallas Business Journal, TX

Nearly 3.5 million passengers traveled through Dallas/Fort Worth International
Airport during the holiday period, an 18 percent rise over the previous year,
airport officials said Thursday.

The holiday travel period began Dec. 19 and ended Jan. 5.

D/FW Airport previously had projected it would see 3.2 million passengers
during the period, but the final numbers released Thursday beat that forecast.

"It's a testament to an improving economy, a pent-up demand for travel and
travelers' confidence in airport security," airport CEO Jeff Fegan said in a
statement.

In 2002-03, 2.9 million passengers passed through D/FW Airport during the
Christmas and New Year period. In 2001-02, following the 9/11 terrorist
attacks, the airport recorded 2.8 million passengers during the holidays.
