$3.2 Million to Upgrade Honolulu Airport
Pacific Business News, HI
Nearly $3.2 million will be spent at the Honolulu International Airport to
enhance pedestrian and motorist safety.
Work on roadways will improve lighting, and study and improve lane changes on
both levels of the airport.
This will help motorists while crossing between the inner and outer lanes
fronting the terminals. It will make it safer for motorists to cross the median
island and merge into traffic.
The state's portion of the project totals $1.5 million, the rest is from
federal funds.
"These improvements will increase safety for residents and visitors who use the
airport, as well as make it easier for motorists to navigate while dropping off
or picking up passengers," said Gov. Linda Lingle.
"The projects are part of the state's continuing efforts to maintain and
upgrade our public facilities and infrastructure," she said.
