Amsterdam Schiphol Airport Plans Series of Improvements
Airport Plans Series of Improvements
Associated Press
Thursday, January 8, 2004
Amsterdam Schiphol Airport said Wednesday it would invest a record E430 million
in 2004 to build shops, taxiways and gates to win back lost passengers.
Passenger traffic at Schiphol fell 2 percent in 2003 to 39.9 million, which it
attributed to the Iraq war, SARS, the stalling global economy and a slow summer
holiday season.
Schiphol, Europe's fourth-largest airport, expects 4.5 percent growth in
passengers this year, to 41.7 million, and 3 percent growth in the cargo
business, according to an airport authority statement.
