Branson Airport Gains Ground
Branson Daily News, MO
An Illinois company is in the running to build an airport south of Branson, it
was announced this week.
Out of seven bids to construct the proposed Branson Regional Airport, the
Illinois company came out on top, according to Rodney Murphy, president of
Branson Airport, LLC.
"It's looking very promising and within the next three weeks we plan to visit
this company and some of its completed projects, in order to make a decision,"
he said.
The commercial airport, large enough to accommodate a Boeing 737, is proposed
on land south of Hollister between U.S. 65 and JJ Highway.
Murphy said he hopes groundbreaking for the airport will occur between two and
three months.
With the recent announcement from College of the Ozarks that its aviation
program may shut down, and the closing of the maintenance technician program at
M. Graham Clark Airport, Murphy said inquiries to his firm regarding private
aircraft have increased.
