LAFAYETTE — A Lafayette native and veteran lawyer has been named the newest
member of the Lafayette Airport Commission.

Paul H. Colomb will serve in the position that previously was held by Lafayette
investment counselor Kevin Carrier.

“The impact of Lafayette Regional Airport on the economy of Lafayette and
Acadiana is rapidly approaching $1 billion dollars annually,” Colomb said.
“If this statistic even remotely approximates the airport’s actual
influence on our community’s wealth, then as a commissioner, my
responsibility is of extreme importance.”

Colomb serves as general counsel to the Governor’s Office of Elderly Affairs,
and he has worked with that division of state government since 1993, after 15
years of private law practice in Lafayette.

“Paul brings to our facility a depth of experience and commitment to public
service, as well as a wealth of understanding of the legal, administrative and
leadership issues we face in moving our facility and community forward,” said
commission member Paul Higginbotham.

Colomb has also served on the Lafayette City/Parish Charter Commission;
Lafayette Zoning Commission; Lafayette Municipal Service Board; Mayor’s
Ad-hoc Committee to Study the Feasibility of Consolidation; Lafayette Regional
Planning Commission; and the Acadiana Arts Council.

Colomb is a U.S. Air Force veteran. He received his juris doctorate from LSU
Law Center in 1977, and he is also a graduate of Southern University and Paul
Breaux High School.

He is married to the former Mercedes Boudreaux, and the couple has one daughter
and one grandchild.
