Airport Park, Fly to Begin Dec. 17
Southwest Florida International Airport's Holiday Park and Fly program will
run from Wednesday, Dec. 17, through Saturday, Jan. 3.
This off-site parking option - in its 16th year - is designed to help
stretch airport parking spaces during the busy holiday travel season as well
as save passengers time, money and stress, said airport spokeswoman Laska
Ryan.
Travelers departing between Dec. 17 and Wednesday, Dec. 24, and returning
between Friday, Dec. 26, and Saturday, Jan. 3, may park at the Lee County
Sports Complex on Ben C. Pratt/Six Mile Cypress Parkway and ride a
complimentary shuttle to the airport curb.
There's a flat fee of $25 - cash only - no matter how long the vehicle is
parked. Those parking for more than four days will find this the most
affordable parking option offered by the airport, Ryan noted.
The cheapest alternative is the economy lot at $6 a day. Parking in the
long-term lot is $10 a day; the daily maximum for short-term parking is $18.
Departing passengers using Holiday Park and Fly may park their vehicles only
between 4:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Upon arrival at the sports complex, they must
show an airline ticket or printed confirmation of an electronic ticket to
confirm their scheduled date of return.
No parking or shuttle service is available on Thursday, Dec. 25.
Around-the-clock security is provided for parked vehicles.
The Transportation Security Administration recommends that passengers arrive
at the airport two hours prior to their scheduled flight departures to allow
time to clear security.
An extra 30 minutes should be added to use the Holiday Park and Fly program,
Ryan said.
For the past eight years, the program has served more than 2,000 vehicles
during the winter holidays.
