Airport Flights Back to Normal
KABC, CA

LOS ANGELES — Flights at the Los Angeles and Burbank airports were getting
back to normal today, as the radar facility reopened that controls much of
the commercial air traffic in and out of Southern California.

The Federal Aviation Administration's Southern California Terminal Radar
Approach Control, or TRACON, facility at Miramar in San Diego reopened
about 4 a.m., said FAA spokesperson Donn Walker.

The center was evacuated Sunday morning when it was threatened by the
Cedar Fire, which was "essentially right at the door," Walker said.

The evacuation caused cancellations and hours-long delays on flights in
and out of Los Angeles International Airport and various other Southland
airports Sunday and yesterday.

"Things have been getting back to normal," Gaby Pacheco, of Los Angeles
World Airports, said late this morning.

Pacheco advised travelers to contact their airlines for more detailed
information.

Pacheco said that by mid-morning, American Airlines had no cancellations
or delays and United Airlines had three cancellations and no delays.

Meanwhile, there were no cancellations or delays reported at Burbank-
Glendale-Pasadena Airport, a spokesperson said.
