"Note to List"
Dear CAA List Members,
I've been selected to help in the reconstruction of Iraq's aviation
infrastructure. I will initially be serving as the Landside Operations
(Terminal) Manager at Basra International Airport, Iraq, reporting within
the next few weeks. I'll be working for UK based Serco, Inc.(www.serco.com),
a contractor under the U.S. State Departments USAid program.
Basra International Airport is located approximately one hour north of the
Kuwaiti border. It will be the first airport to open to commercial traffic
since the end of the war and is only one of two international airports in
the country. Six airlines have applied for permission to begin service to
Iraq's second largest city. Originally built by a German contractor during
U.N. imposed sanctions, Basra has not seen commercial airline service since
its completion.
As a Gulf War veteran (U.S. Air Force Officer), I look forward to this
opportunity to help in the rebuilding of a historically important country
and assisting its people in their struggle to return to normalcy.
I hope to continue the California Aviation Alliance website/lists from
Basra. I'm leaving the end of this week for a weeks training, arriving in
Iraq the end of this month. I'll be posting through the end of this week and
then the list will go on hiatus until I'm situated and able to resume
posting. The CAA website and all of the lists will remain operational and
available for posting. Unfortunately, while I'm in transit I won't be able
to respond to any emails requesting help. My contact email address will
remain: stepheni@xxxxxxxxx
Take care and until you hear from me again ...
Warmest Regards,
Steve
Stephen Irwin, M.S., A.A.E.
