Japan to construct new terminal for Afghan capital's airport
Iran - Voice of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mashhad
Kabul International Airport will be reconstructed and re-equipped through
the assistance of Japan.
According to the central news unit from Kabul, besides the old terminal,
Japan intends to construct a new terminal for Kabul airport.
On the basis of a protocol on construction of the new terminal signed
between Japan and the Afghan National Ministry of Civil Aviation and
Tourism, Japan will construct the new terminal as no-strings-aid to the
Afghan Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.
The terminal will have capacity for 600 passengers per hour. The terminal
will be equipped with the latest technical resources, transit halls,
restaurants and car parking.
The new terminal will be constructed by the end of 2006 and subsequently put
into operation.
