Orlando airport to add flights, expand terminal
Florida Today

ORLANDO, Fla. -- New low-cost air carriers such as the Delta service named
Song will bring new flights to Orlando International Airport and lead to an
expansion of one of the four terminals.

Next month alone, airlines currently using OIA plan to offer 55 new flights
to places such as Los Angeles, Montego Bay, Jamaica and Toronto.

The new flights will lead to a planned expansion of one of the airport's
four satellite terminals starting sometime in 2005. The last terminal to
open at the Orlando airport was in September 2000. The terminal -- airside 2
-- serves low-cost carriers Southwest, Air Tran, Spirit, Sun Country, Midway
and JetBlue.

Last year, 26.6 million passengers passed through Orlando International
Airport. The airport currently has 81 carriers -- 43 scheduled, 26 charter
and 12 cargo -- and provides service to more than 100 cities worldwide.

Scheduled non-stop service is available to 75 destinations in the United
States and direct service is available to 33 international cities.

The next scheduled meeting of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority is
Sept. 17.
