Airport Spending To Market New Airline
by Sean Lewis
WTVO-TV Ch 17 ABC, Rockford (IL)
Getting passengers to notice Rockford's upcoming passenger service is
proving to be an expensive trip all its own.
So far, the airport's spent around $200,000 of it's $500,000 marketing
budget, $270,000 of which the public donated.
Most of it's gone to newspaper, billboard, and radio ads, for now.
"Putting butts in the seats is principle to being successful. But putting at
least 70 percent of those butts in the seat that come from outside Rockford
in incredibly important," says Airport Director Bob O'Brien.
O'Brien says the airport should know by November 30th if there's enough
interest for passenger service to stick around.
