Woman Eludes Security at Midway Airport
The Associated Press

CHICAGO - A woman bypassed a security checkpoint at Midway Airport, forcing
aviation officials to evacuate three terminals and halt departing flights
for about an hour.

The breach occurred about 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

The unidentified woman passed through a metal detector but did not complete
an additional screening by a hand wand, said Brian Turmail, a spokesman for
the federal Transportation and Security Administration.

Security personnel were unable to locate the woman, Turmail said. He
declined to give a description of the woman.

Thousands of passengers had to be re-screened before they could continue
their journeys.
