Pittsburgh Airport Ambassador Program Expanded
The Associated Press

IMPERIAL, Pa. (AP) — A program that uses volunteers to greet international
travelers arriving at Pittsburgh International Airport is expanding to help
patients and their families coming for medical reasons.

"We have a world-class airport and world-class health care in this region,"
said Mary Pat Soltis of the Allegheny County Airport Authority. "Every day
you pick up the newspaper and read about a person flying into Pittsburgh to
access one of our hospitals. This was the natural progression of our
ambassador program."

Volunteers were honored Friday as the Ambassador Care program was announced.

"I really do enjoy this," said Reine Kovach, 75, of Carnegie, who has been
an ambassador for a year. "The people you help are so thankful and so nice,
it really makes you feel good. Most people wish that other airports offered
this."
