Air Service Returns To Fort Collins/Loveland Airport
KMGH-TV Ch 7 ABC, Denver (CO)
After nearly six years without regularly-scheduled passenger air service,
the Fort Collins Loveland Municipal Airport welcomed its first flight
Thursday.
Passengers will line up at the terminal Thursday night to board Allegiant
Air, which is now offering direct flights to Las Vegas, four times a week --
once on Thursday, Friday, Sunday and Monday.
Dave Gordon, director of the airport, said that the convenience of regional
air travel will attract many northern Coloradoans living in the area. He
cited smaller crowds, cheaper parking and faster security as factors that
could draw passengers to the small, municipal airport located off Interstate
25.
If you're interested in flying out of Fort Collins-Loveland, don't go to the
airport to get your tickets. All of the ticketing will take place over the
Internet.
Thursday's first flight was sold out. The cost of a one-way ticket is about
$89 and flights leave at 8:30 p.m. Allegiant Air, based in Las Vegas, will
fly 161-seat MD-83 aircraft on the route.
